Samuel L. Jackson, the esteemed actor, shared that his Marvel co-star Brie Larson was deeply affected by the 2016 election of President Trump during their time on set.
While speaking to Rolling Stone, the "Captain Marvel" star and celebrated figure of Hollywood relayed that he had to motivate Larson in the midst of the political turbulence which left several Hollywood liberals distressed.
Additionally, he shared some strong opinions about the ex-president and present Republican leader, alleging that Trump echoes the same sentiments as those individuals who racially insulted him in his earlier years.
Jackson, known for portraying the iconic character Nick Fury in a number of Marvel films, shared the screen with Larson in "Captain Marvel," where she embodied the role of the eponymous superhero.
In the course of their conversation, Jackson described the evolution of their friendship, which began during the shooting of 2017's "Kong: Skull Island" and extended through another project for Netflix. He fondly remembered sharing experiences and perspectives with Larson about the 2016 election while working on the latter film.
Jackson stated, "We had done Kong together, which was not the most wonderful experience for either of us. We became great friends during that particular experience because we were having such a hard time."
He continued, "Then, when she was doing her movie [Unicorn Store] and trying to get a particular actor, I was in the makeup trailer with her and was like, ‘Why are you trying to hire this other actor and not trying to get me to do your movie?’ She said, ‘I didn’t think you’d ever do it… so, will you?’ And I was like, ‘Let’s do it.’"
Jackson claims the former president reminds him of the racist "rednecks" he grew up with.
"When I see Trump, I see the same rednecks I saw when I was growing up who called me "n----r" and tried to keep me in my place. That’s what the Republican Party is to me. They’re doing it to young people, gay people. They don’t care who you are. If you’re not them, you’re the enemy," he said.
