Kayleigh McEnany Announces Her Next Move at Fox News

Kayleigh McEnany, a Fox News anchor, will be taking over the 8 p.m. time slot from May 8 to May 12, following the departure of Tucker Carlson from the network.

Since the departure of Tucker Carlson and cancellation of his show "Tucker Carlson Tonight," the 8 p.m. time slot has been filled by a rotating cast of hosts for the replacement program "Fox News Tonight." Brian Kilmeade and Lawrence Jones have both hosted the time slot so far.

“I am honored to share that I will be hosting Fox News Tonight on [Fox News] at 8pm ET all next week (5/8-5/12)! Set your DVR. Please join me next week as we dig into the state of politics, media, culture, and faith in America!” McEnany tweeted Thursday.

Kayleigh McEnany currently serves as the host of "Outnumbered" on Fox News. Prior to joining the network, she served as the final White House press secretary for former President Donald Trump.

The replacement program for Tucker Carlson's show, "Fox News Tonight," experienced a drop in ratings among the key 25-54 age demographic on its first night. Brian Kilmeade hosted the program during its first week and it received a rating of 0.24 in the 25-54 age demographic, compared to Tucker Carlson's show which received a 0.37 rating on April 17th. The program's total viewership averaged nearly 2.6 million viewers, which was lower than the roughly 3.7 million viewers that Carlson's show had the prior Monday.

According to ShowBuzzDaily, Lawrence Jones hosted "Fox News Tonight" on Tuesday night and the program received a total of 1.47 million viewers. This was higher than its MSNBC competitor, "All In With Chris Hayes," which had 1.19 million viewers on the same evening.

Tucker Carlson's previous show was the top-rated program for the key 25- to 54-year-old age demographic, as reported by The New York Times. From 2017 to 2020, his show had the second-highest ratings after Sean Hannity's primetime 9 p.m. show. In 2020, it garnered over 4 million viewers, making it one of the highest-rated programs in the history of cable news, according to the publication.
