San Francisco 49ers star Nick Bosa drew inspiration from President-elect Donald Trump for his sack celebration dance on Sunday. Facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Bosa sacked quarterback Baker Mayfield on a crucial 4th-and-23 play. The 49ers ended up winning 23-20.
When asked about the dance, Bosa hinted at its inspiration. "I think you know the answer to that question," he told the San Francisco Chronicle. "All the guys wanted me to do it. I wasn’t even going to do it, but the boys reminded me. And it was fun."
Teammate Fred Warner chimed in, saying he saw Bosa dancing and thought it looked like fun. So he joined in, adding to the celebratory moment.
President-elect Trump took notice, praising Bosa on Truth Social for his move. The support was mutual, as Bosa has been showing his support for Trump recently.
Just last week, Bosa wore a Make America Great Again hat after the 49ers beat the Cowboys on Sunday night. His actions led to a fine, something he anticipated.
"It was well worth it," Bosa said, addressing the fine. "I don’t think my position on speaking about it is going to change, so clearly the nation spoke. We got what we got."
This season, Bosa has 5.5 sacks, 32 tackles, a forced fumble, and an interception over nine games.
