Kevin O'Leary from "Shark Tank" never holds back. His thoughts on workers spending big on coffee and lunches? No different.
"Stop buying $5.50 coffee. Spending $15 on a sandwich for work – are you an idiot?" O'Leary said in an Instagram video.
He added, "You can make a sandwich for 99 cents at home. Over time, that daily spending adds up. People, especially those just starting out, waste around $15,000 a year on stupid stuff."
His comments come as data shows 12% of Americans visit coffee shops daily, with 36% going at least once a week.
On average, Americans drop over $20 a week on coffee, according to the stats.
Many agreed in the post’s comments, sharing stories of cutting back on coffee shop visits to save money.
"He's right… why are we helping Starbucks pay their rent?" one person wrote.
Another said, "I bring my lunch daily. Saves money, makes life easier, and it's healthier."
A third commenter mentioned "habit stacking" and how "little things add up."
Most people echoed O'Leary’s view that eliminating waste helps build financial comfort.
But some disagreed, pointing to different financial challenges.
One said, "It's not the problem. A 5% raise could cover those small expenses. It's about managing cashflow."
Others admitted they love their iced coffees but shared tips to limit Starbucks trips to once a week.
