An elementary school teacher from Tennessee, alleged to have raped a boy when he was 12, hinted that she might be carrying his child during a phone conversation that was played during court proceedings this week, as per local news sources.
"I'm going to raise this baby. I can do this," was a statement made by Alissa McCommon, a teacher in the fourth grade, during a phone conversation with the victim. This audio was presented in a Tipton County courtroom on Tuesday, as noted by FOX 13 Memphis.
McCommon, aged 38, from Covington, reportedly sexually assaulted the boy. He informed authorities that in 2021, during an overnight stay at McCommon's house, he was awakened to find McCommon violating him.
On Sept. 8, McCommon was arrested and faced charges of child rape. After posting a $250,000 bond, she was freed, only to be taken into custody again on Sept. 28. This time, she was charged with acts of coercion, harassment, and stalking aimed at the victim.
A judge rescinded McCommon's second bond following allegations by authorities that she breached her release conditions by reaching out to the victim using an undisclosed phone number after her initial release from jail.
"[T]he actions of McCommon are not only appalling, but CPD is also concerned about this apparent violation of her bond conditions," Covington Police Chief Donna Turner said in a Sept. 28 statement. "Due to the nature of the communications, we are concerned others may have been contacted. We continue to work closely with the District Attorney's Office as to the revocation of McCommon’s bond, as well as the additional charges that continue to develop."
In a communication with the victim, McCommon conveyed, "I'm just really scared. I don't even know if it's you or not ... I will never text you again. You will never hear from me again, just please don't say anything," as noted by FOX 13.
In another message to the victim, she penned, "This was a mistake, this is my burden. OMG delete this number, please don't get me in trouble," as reported by the media outlet.
In September, McCommon purportedly confessed to "communicating inappropriately with former students" using online gaming platforms and social networking applications. It's here she reportedly sent "inappropriate photographs" and sought "sexual relationships with the victims," as stated by the police.
The investigation into the teacher by the Covington Police Department was initiated after receiving insights from the Department of Children Services, indicating that McCommon was allegedly involved in sexual interactions with a male teen student, based on an affidavit.
