Remi Lucidi, a French thrill-seeker who gained widespread recognition on social media for capturing selfies on towering structures globally, tragically plummeted to his death from a Hong Kong skyscraper last week.
Known on social platforms as "Remi Enigma," Lucidi was discovered deceased in Hong Kong following what authorities believe was a fatal fall from a city skyscraper on Thursday, as per a report by The Guardian.
The 30-year-old daredevil's body was located by police on an apartment terrace, with identification subsequently confirmed by local media outlets. Alongside his French ID, authorities found a camera typically used by Lucidi to record his daring feats in extreme sports.
Authorities suspect that Lucidi met his untimely death after falling from a ledge of the penthouse building he accessed earlier that day. He had informed security that he was there to see a friend residing on the 40th floor. However, CCTV footage from the building revealed that he alighted the elevator on the 49th floor and then took the stairs to reach the skyscraper's top floor. A penthouse worker on the 68th floor claimed that Lucidi knocked on the apartment window around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, asking to be admitted, but the worker, suspecting something amiss, decided to call the authorities instead.
A report from the South China Morning Post suggests that Lucidi may have found himself stuck on the building and was seeking assistance prior to the tragic occurrence, according to the police.
"It is possible that he got trapped outside the penthouse while practicing an extreme sport in the building, and he knocked on the window for help but accidentally fell to his death," a police source told the outlet.
Subsequently, the police received a call reporting a gas leak, which led them to stumble upon Lucidi's body. Officials state that Lucidi appears to have fractured a gas pipe for the building in the course of his fall.
