Angel Reese, the prominent women's basketball star for the LSU Tigers, may face additional criticism on social media following her recent remark about the invitation extended to First Lady Jill Biden to visit the White House.
On Monday, Biden expressed her desire to invite both the LSU Tigers and the Iowa Hawkeyes to the White House, even though the Tigers had triumphed over the Hawkeyes 102-85 in the NCAA Tournament final on Sunday.
"I know we’ll have the champions come to the White House, we always do," Biden, who was in attendance for the LSU championship win, said. "So, we hope LSU will come. But, you know, I’m going to tell Joe I think Iowa should come, too, because they played such a good game."

Reese shared a quote tweet of the ESPN article featuring Biden's remarks, and it was evident from her tweet that she holds a distinct view about the victor and the defeated team being invited to the White House.
"A JOKE," Reese tweeted, along with three laughing emojis.

While it's not typical for the defeated team in a championship to receive an invitation to the White House, Biden thinks that the progress of women's sports since the implementation of Title IX in 1972 sets this instance apart.
"It was so exciting, wasn't it?" she said per a report from ESPN. "It was such a great game. I'm old enough that I remember when we got Title IX. We fought so hard, right? We fought so hard. And look at where women's sports have come today."
Reese was already being criticized for taunting the national player of the year, Iowa's Caitlin Clark, in the waning moments of the LSU win. She used the John Cena "can't see me" celebration Clark has used in the past and also pointed at her finger indicating that Clark will not be getting a championship ring after her team's loss in the national semifinals.

Caitlin Clark refused to get involved with any type of back-and-forth with Reese after the game. She said, "I don't think there should be any criticism for what she did."
