It's possible that Don Lemon's time at CNN could be coming to an end.
According to Fox News, a source from within the mainstream media network stated that Don Lemon is temporarily stepping back from his responsibilities following controversy over a sexist comment he made last week.
The insider mentioned that the specific date of Don Lemon's return to on-air duties would rely on his mindset at that time.
Lemon's leave of absence came after a segment on "CNN This Morning" where he raised doubts about the electability of Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley based on her age.
Don Lemon: "Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime. Sorry, when a woman is considered to be in her prime in her 20s, and 30s, and maybe 40s…"
Poppy Harlow: "Are you talking about prime for like child bearing?"

Subsequently, Lemon retracted his comment about Haley's age in a Twitter post later that Thursday afternoon, but he did not offer a direct apology to her.
The reference I made to a woman’s “prime” this morning was inartful and irrelevant, as colleagues and loved ones have pointed out, and I regret it. A woman’s age doesn't define her either personally or professionally. I have countless women in my life who prove that every day.

The strange soliloquy garnered disapproval for Lemon from CNN's executives, with CEO Chris Licht expressing his disappointment with the liberal media figure during an editorial conference call on Friday.
As a result of the controversy, there is a possibility that Lemon's job may be terminated as part of Licht's reorganization of personnel within the media company.
According to a report by The Daily Beast on Sunday, a source from CNN stated that the issue had resulted in "ongoing conversations about Don's future." The Daily Beast's article was titled "Don Lemon Benched on Monday Over Sexist Remark Scandal, Insiders Say."
According to the New York Post, Lemon was expected to be back on CNN Monday.
CNN's recent executives have aimed to transform the partisan media outlet into a neutral news platform, avoiding the progressive commentary that figures like Lemon are recognized for.
