On Friday, Vice President Kamala Harris got as close to being president as she ever will when she was temporarily appointed as acting president while President Joe Biden went for a "routine" colonoscopy at Walter Reed Hospital.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki announced that Biden was getting a "routine physical," which included a colonoscopy and the use of anesthesia.
“As was the case when President George W. Bush had the same procedure in 2002 and 2007, and following the process set out in the Constitution, President Biden will transfer power to the Vice President for the brief period of time when he is under anesthesia,” she explained.
I do find it interesting that there was a rumor circulating overseas that Biden pooped his pants while visiting the Pope a few weeks ago, and now he is getting a "routine" colonoscopy. Coincidence? Perhaps...but probably not.

President Joe Biden is in increasing danger of his presidency being cut short by the invocation of the 25th amendment. In addition to evidence of declining mental capacity, he has had his share of embarrassing health-related questions.
Biden has also suffered from a series of abrupt cancellations. A live event with the Pope during his visit to Rome was canceled. On Thursday, a press conference between the visiting leaders of Mexico and Canada was suddenly canceled. The NY Post reported that his aides “were left scrambling to clean up a series of misstatements.”
While the mainstream press insist that the 25th amendment measure is unthinkable due to the current composition of the U.S. Congress, which must invoke the clause to remove Joe Biden, the Democratic Party may believe that Joe Biden has become expendable, and an overall negative for the party’s chances in the midterm elections or in 2024.
According to the Constitution, the sitting President of the United States to the Congress can be removed with a two-thirds vote in both the House and the Senate.
“If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office,” the Constitutional amendment reads.
We certainly don't need Joe Biden as president for another day. However, a Harris or Pelosi administration would be just as bad.
