A TikTok video depicting customers standing up for The Star-Spangled Banner at a restaurant in California caused outrage among progressives on the internet, with the person responsible for the post even labeling the incident as "the most perilous situation I've ever encountered."
Additional individuals expressed their views, describing the scenario as their "biggest fear," "frightening," and "reminiscent of a horror film." Hashtags such as #godblessamerica, #getout, #illegal, and #whitepeoplethings were utilized by commenters.
The proprietor of Rainbow Oaks restaurant, Jeanene Paulino, where the patriotic moment took place, stated that the grievances were merely another tactic to gain publicity.
"I feel like, if we take a few minutes out of our day to be grateful for the men and women who have made the sacrifices so that we can stand up and say how we feel and she said how she felt. And I wish she realized that it's because those men and women who made those sacrifices that she was able to do that," she said to hosts Todd Piro and Ashley Strohmier.
During an appearance on "Fox & Friends First" on Wednesday, she expressed her opinion on the response coming from progressives, stating that she hopes they acknowledge the fact that their freedom of speech is safeguarded by those who fight to protect this right.
The video that garnered disapproval from some captures several patrons standing up and reciting the pledge with their hands placed over their hearts while the American flag appears on TV screens in the vicinity.
Paulino remarked that the negative comments posted by progressive customers on the internet were "privileged" and showed a lack of gratitude towards those who have served and made sacrifices in the past.
"I think maybe they're not focusing on gratitude," she continued. "This particular TikToker had seen a local news post, so she probably did it for attention."
Rainbow Oaks has upheld its practice of standing for the national anthem every day for several years. This tradition was established by the former owners, and Paulino stated that she is delighted to maintain it.

"I come from a long line of patriots, so I was thrilled to keep the tradition going. No, we won't be stopping."
The individual who posted the video on TikTok was also criticized for being exaggerated in their caption. Paulino remarked that they should appreciate the fact that the United States is so secure that a harmless occurrence such as this made them feel endangered.
