The Las Vegas Aces, a WNBA team, have expressed their displeasure with President Biden following his celebratory tweet towards the NHL's Vegas Golden Knights. The tweet overlooked the Aces' championship from the previous year.
On Tuesday night, the Golden Knights marked a milestone for their franchise, winning their first-ever Stanley Cup by defeating the Florida Panthers in Game 5. It was a noteworthy achievement, considering that the team was only established six years prior.
Biden, who is known for sending congratulatory messages on social media to major sports leagues' champions, acknowledged the Golden Knights' victory. However, he referred to their win as "the first major professional franchise in such a proud American city," unintentionally omitting the Aces' championship.
"Today, the team and entire community are champions," Biden tweeted.
Congrats to the Vegas @GoldenKnights on their first Stanley Cup in just their sixth season. The first major professional franchise in such a proud American city.
Today, the team and entire community are champions.

In truth, the Aces clinched the WNBA title in 2022, becoming the inaugural professional sports team in Las Vegas to secure a league championship.
A'ja Wilson, the Aces' star player and a two-time WNBA MVP, took exception to President Biden's oversight.
"Twitter not letting me quote tweet potus tweet but…. BFFR when is our White House visit cause…." she vented.

It's important to mention that the Seattle Storm, who claimed the WNBA championship in 2021, received an invitation to the White House.
Recently, women's basketball has had a somewhat tumultuous relationship with the White House. This was evident when the LSU Lady Tigers had a peculiar incident with First Lady Jill Biden after their NCAA championship victory earlier this year.
Jill Biden expressed a desire to extend an invitation not only to the victorious Lady Tigers but also to the Iowa Hawkeyes, who were the runners-up in the national title game, in recognition of their competitive spirit. Angel Reese, the star of the LSU team, publicly objected to this proposal, critiquing Biden's comments. She voiced her preference to visit the Obamas' residence instead.
