'Dances With Wolves' Star Arrested For Allegedly Running Sex Cult

An actor from the 1990 film "Dances With Wolves" was arrested by Las Vegas police on Tuesday for reportedly operating a sexual cult.

Nathan Chasing Horse, also known as Nathan Lee Chasing His Horse, was apprehended following a SWAT operation at his residence in North Las Vegas, as reported by the New York Post. It is stated that Chasing Horse resided in the home with five wives, one of whom was reportedly gifted to him at the age of 15 and another who became his wife after she turned 16.

According to a 50-page search warrant obtained by the Associated Press, authorities claim that Chasing Horse is the head of a cult called "The Circle" and has allegedly used his leadership position to abuse underage Native American girls. The authorities investigated Chasing Horse for several months after receiving an informant tip in October 2022, with allegations of his crimes stretching back over two decades.

Chasing Horse was recognized for his role as Smiles a Lot, a young Sioux tribe member in the film "Dances With Wolves." After his performance in the film, Chasing Horse gained reputation as a medicine man among tribes in the U.S. and Canada, where he conducted healing ceremonies and spiritual gatherings, according to the AP. It is claimed that Chasing Horse abused at least six victims, including one as young as 13 years old, in this capacity.

“Nathan Chasing Horse used spiritual traditions and their belief system as a tool to sexually assault young girls on numerous occasions,” the search warrant said, per the AP.

The search warrant also states that Chasing Horse's followers believed he had the ability to communicate with higher beings and referred to him as "Medicine Man" or "Holy Person."

Chasing Horse was arrested on suspicion of crimes committed in Clark County, Nevada, as well as other states such as Montana, South Dakota, and other parts of Nevada. He faces charges including sex trafficking, sexual assault of a minor under 16, child abuse, and arranging for others to sexually exploit victims in exchange for payment, as well as recording the assaults.

This statement alleges that a person named Chasing Horse was forcibly removed from the Fort Peck Reservation in Poplar, Montana in 2015 due to accusations of human trafficking.

Chasing Horse was born on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota and is a member of the Sicangu Sioux tribe, which is part of the larger Lakota nation. The information comes from the Associated Press (AP).
