On Tuesday, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump held the annual National Thanksgiving Turkey Pardoning Ceremony at the White House.
“Thanksgiving is a very special day for turkeys. I guess probably for the most part, not a very good one, when you think about it,” the president said before pardoning the turkey named “Corn.”
Two turkeys named "Corn" and "Cob" were delivered to the White House by the National Turkey Federation from Iowa for the traditional ceremony.
“These two magnificent gobblers were selected from the official presidential flock of 30 turkeys,” Trump said, and then held his hand over the bird to issue a “full pardon.”

President Trump wished the United States a happy Thanksgiving and mentioned that it is the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims landing at Plymouth Rock. They then suffered through a brutal winter. However, their perseverance is what created our great country.
“From our earliest days, America has always been a story of perseverance and triumph, determination, and strength, loyalty and faith,” Trump said. “It’s time to remember that we live in a great, great country, the greatest of them all … every American can be united in Thanksgiving to God for the incredible gifts that he has bestowed upon us."
“We send our love to every member of the armed forces and the law enforcement heroes risking their lives to keep America safe, to keep America great, and as I say, America First, we shouldn’t go away from that. America First,” he added.
