On Monday the Washington Redskins officially announced their team name and logo will be retired after 87 years of using it. Public pressure has been mounting for years to change the name.
Despite the announcement, the team is yet to choose a new mascot.

The pressure was really turned up when FedEx publicly requested the team change their name. The team formerly known as the Redskins played at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.
On top of that big-name retailers such as Amazon, Target and Walmart removed Redskins merchandise from their websites last week.
There were some interesting responses to the move on Twitter.
