The incoming border czar has a clear warning for sanctuary city officials: they won’t stop the Trump administration’s plans to deport illegal migrants.
“You’re not going to stop us doing what we’re going to do,” said incoming border czar Tom Homan during a recent appearance on “The Ingraham Angle.”
Homan explained that migrants would be detained and relocated to states with available resources. “There is plenty of sheriffs across this country who are willing to give us empty beds,” he said. “They want the funding, and we can put them in jail all across the country.”
He emphasized the administration’s resolve. “It’s going to cost money, so we’ve got to have the money to do it, but President Trump’s going to do everything he can to make sure we have the funds,” Homan continued. “They will be arrested, detained, put on an airplane, and go home.”
Homan’s passion stems from personal experiences. He said he gets “emotional” about illegal immigration due to the tragedies he has witnessed. “I’ve seen so much tragedy,” he shared, pointing to cases of sexual abuse and rape of children as young as nine years old.
He also recalled the death of Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student killed by an illegal immigrant while jogging. “I want every mayor, every governor of a sanctuary jurisdiction to listen to that tape,” he said. “Listen to this young girl fight for her life, fight for her breath, trying to survive, terrified.”
Homan didn’t mince words when addressing federal officials. He warned against violating a federal statute that criminalizes knowingly harboring illegal immigrants. “For any governor or mayor who doesn’t want public safety threats taken out of their communities, he should resign your office,” Homan declared.
He assured that the administration has methods to locate and detain individuals. “We have ways of finding people,” he said. “They will be arrested, they’ll be detained, and they’ll be removed.”
Due process will be followed, Homan noted, but federal orders will be enforced. “If a federal judge orders someone to be removed, they will be removed,” he stated firmly.
Homan had a final message for critics. “For those governors and mayors that are saying they’re going to stop Tom Homan, they’re going to stop President Trump: Shame on you,” he said. “Your responsibility is to protect your communities, and that’s what we want to do, is protect your community.”
