The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funneled millions to groups connected to terrorist organizations, according to a report by the Middle East Forum.
The report revealed a shocking $164 million in approved grants to radical organizations. Of that, at least $122 million went to groups linked with terrorists and their supporters.
"Billions more have gone to top American aid charities that fail to vet terror-tied local partners," the report stated. "Federal agencies seem indifferent."
The report focused on USAID and State Department funds that landed in the hands of these radical groups. One of the biggest discoveries was a $900,000 grant to Bayader Association for Environment and Development.
Bayader is a Gaza-based group founded in 2007 after Hamas took over the Gaza Strip. Bayader claims to build civil society, but it works closely with the Hamas regime.
The report exposed that Bayader coordinated with multiple Hamas ministries. USAID worked with Bayader directly and praised the group publicly. Senior USAID official Jonathan Kamin even received an award from Bayader.
Funds were funneled through other NGOs, such as Catholic Relief Services and medical groups. USAID also approved a $12.5 million grant in 2024 to the American Near East Refugee Agency, a long-time partner of Bayader.
Staffers from this NGO have posted disturbing comments on social media. They’ve called for the eradication of Jews and praised Oct. 7, 2023, as a "beautiful morning."
Sam Westrop, director of the Middle East Forum's counter-extremism project, described the findings as "horrifying."
"USAID won’t even say how much it gave the Unlimited Friends Association, a Gaza terror charity backed by Hamas," Westrop posted. "The charity’s leader vowed to cleanse the land of ‘impure Jews.’"
