President Joe Biden is a weak, spineless jellyfish of a man. You know it, I know it, and worst of all, Russian President Vladimir Putin knows it.
On Thursday, Rep. Guy Reschenthaler told Newsmax that Putin. is using Biden's "weakness" to "control the timing" for a potential invasion of Ukraine. He warned that Putin won't stop at Ukraine, but rather try to take other former Soviet bloc states that he sees as part of the Russian Federation.
"He views them as almost breakaway states from the old USSR," the Pennsylvania Republican said on Newsmax. "That's why it's so important that we do not give concessions, that we're adamant that if Ukraine wants to join NATO, and that we say there's room at the table with the alliance, and we don't give anything to Russian negotiations."
He explained that Putin has "put himself in a win-win situation with Biden, because he knows that he can use military force to invade or take over Ukraine."
"If Biden was a stronger leader, if the West was more united behind a stronger United States, Putin would not be in this position," Reschenthaler continued. "He should not be allowed to continue to accumulate troops on the border. We should be immediately shutting down the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, moving forward with sanctions, and making clear to the world that if anybody wants to join NATO, the nation should be welcomed into the alliance."
"What Ukraine needs more than anything is just lethal aid," he added. "We need to make sure they have anti-tank missiles, ground-to-air missiles, what they need to wage a guerilla war. We need Russia to know that the Ukrainian military will have the material and the weapons they need to fight a long, protracted war against Russia, and to make this as painful to Putin as possible."
Which is similar to what Rep. Chris Stewart said on Thursday. He claimed that Biden should arm Ukrainian "freedom fighters" in order to intimidate Putin and force his hand.
"[Putin] is not afraid of losing Russian troops in an invasion," Stewart said on Newsmax's "National Report." "They will take that, and the Russian people will accept that."
However, he said, Russia will not accept another Afghanistan debacle where they face "resistance freedom fighters who are killing Russians every week and sending them home in body bags." Stewart added, "We certainly learned that lesson from Afghanistan and so did Russia."
"The one hope that we have is if we can instill the fear and the reality that he's going to be dealing with a bloody resistance," he continued. "The Ukrainian people do not want to be part of Russia. They want to be free. They want to be a free and independent nation.
