President Donald Trump is already looking ahead to the next election cycle. He recently declared that a 2028 Republican ticket featuring Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio would be completely unbeatable.
Trump made the bold prediction during a new interview on the "Pod Force One" podcast. He told host Miranda Devine that the two prominent conservatives would be a massive force if they decided to run together.
Both Vance and Rubio are widely seen as top contenders for the 2028 Republican presidential nomination. Rubio recently drew widespread praise from Republicans and even some Democrats following a remarkably smooth performance at the White House podium.
The Secretary of State impressed viewers with quick quips and a clever 1990s hip-hop reference while describing the negotiating position of Iran. Trump clearly took notice of the strong performance from his top diplomat.
"I would think that JD and Marco as a team would be very hard to beat," Trump said during the podcast episode that aired on Wednesday.
"It’s interesting, human thing, the human equation," the president added. "So I watch them together, they get along great."
Trump:
I studied if JD Vance and Marco Rubio like each other. I just find it interesting.
They get along great. They have a good relationship.

Trump has continued to frequently fuel succession talk regarding the future of the America First movement. This political speculation comes even as both Vance and Rubio publicly downplay their presidential ambitions for 2028.
