NFL Superstar Announces 2022 Will Be His Final Season

NFL superstar J.J. Watt has announced the 2022 season will be his final year playing in the NFL.

The future Hall of Famer has played for the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans. He tweeted that the game on December 27 was his final home game.

“My heart is filled with nothing but love and gratitude,” said Watt. “It’s been an absolute honor and a pleasure.”

J.J. Watt, who is 33 years old, had a strong season in his last year in the NFL, recording 9.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, and 33 tackles.

Since joining the Houston Texans at the beginning of his career, Watt has been recognized as the Defensive Player of the Year on three occasions. He also received the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award in 2017.

Watt has made a significant impact off the field through his charitable work.

His foundation, which was established in 2010 while he was still in college, has raised over $6.7 million. Initially, Watt set a goal of raising $100,000, but the foundation ended up raising much more.

In 2017, after Hurricane Harvey devastated the Houston area, Watt's foundation raised over $37 million to help those affected by the disaster. His initial goal for this effort was $200,000.
