President Donald Trump received positive political news on Monday. A new InsiderAdvantage survey shows his job approval has returned to the 50% mark. This is his strongest polling performance in nearly three months.
The survey asked likely voters for their opinion on the president's job performance. Fifty percent of respondents said they approve of the job he is doing. Only 41% disapproved, while 9% remained undecided.
This result gives Trump a 9-point net approval rating. It is his best showing in this specific poll since late September. The 9-point spread is the widest positive gap for the president since mid-August.
Pollster Matt Towery attributes the bounce to recent major events. He pointed to the president’s December 17 address to the nation. He also cited fresh inflation data released by the Labor Department.
Trump's prime-time White House speech aimed to reset his domestic message. It focused heavily on the economy and the cost of living. These issues remain the top concerns for most American voters.
The Labor Department recently reported that the Consumer Price Index increased 2.6% over the last year. Towery noted that Trump’s approval gains came from key groups. These include independent voters, younger voters, and women.
A significant share of respondents still remain undecided about his performance. Towery noted that this is particularly true among independents. This suggests there is still potential volatility as the 2026 midterm elections approach.
The high number of undecided voters indicates some are unsure of his accomplishments. "This suggests he has work to do as he and the GOP enter the midterm season," Towery said. The poll surveyed 800 likely voters via cellphones and text messages.
