Rep. Jasmine Crockett is standing firm behind Joe Biden — and she’s not backing down.
The Texas Democrat defended the former president’s mental sharpness on Katie Couric’s Next Question podcast Thursday. This comes as the House Oversight Committee investigates whether Biden’s inner circle covered up signs of cognitive decline.
Crockett said she “never saw anything” from Biden that raised red flags. In fact, she claimed his mental acuity was “supreme” compared to Donald Trump’s.
The committee, led by Chairman James Comer, is probing claims that Biden was bypassed in key decisions. One focus: whether staff used an autopen to mimic his signature — avoiding direct involvement from the president.
But Crockett isn’t buying it. She said average Americans don’t see what members of Congress do behind closed doors. “I never saw anything in Joe Biden that made me wonder whatsoever,” she told Couric.
She likened Biden to her own grandmother — someone who may have slowed physically but remained mentally sharp. “He’s a granddaddy, right?” she said. “But mentally, he’s still there.”
Crockett said even if Biden isn’t polished or quick-moving, she trusts his heart. “I will take a broken — or however they want to describe Joe Biden — over Donald Trump any given day,” she said.
She pointed to Biden’s legislation and leadership team as proof of his priorities. “At least he kept good people around him,” she said. “He kept people that would keep us safe.”
And in her boldest defense yet, Crockett said even a “mentally deficient Joe Biden” would be better than Trump. “His mental deficiency is still a thousand times better than what we currently have,” she said.
