Home Depot Worker's Bathroom Selfie Goes Viral With 30 Million Views

Think about uploading a simple photo of yourself during your midday break, only for your uniformed appearance to make a big splash on the internet. This is the exact scenario a Home Depot employee, who uploaded a snapshot of herself in her apron on June 9, experienced. By the end of the weekend, the post gained tremendous traction, propelling "Home Depot" into the trending section on Twitter for multiple consecutive days.

What a boon for free publicity! The post revealed that the employee, named Ariana, works at "the one job [where] I get reminded I'm too pretty to work at," igniting quite a discussion online as the post gained in popularity.

In subsequent tweets, Ariana clarifies that she works as a paint mixer at Home Depot, stating that it's merely her "college job" and emphasizes its decent benefits. However, like the supposed customers, some netizens also expressed the notion that she was "too pretty" to be working at Home Depot, a sentiment she directly addressed.

"I don't think I am too pretty to work anywhere. I work at Home Depot because it's a decent job that pays good while I'm in school. Please stop taking social media to heart."

Since her viral photo many other women have posted photos of themselves in Home Depot aprons, claiming to work there.

In an informal response, a corporate employee from Home Depot posted her own selfie in solidarity. As discussions about women being deemed "too attractive" to do certain jobs persist, the women at Home Depot are leveraging social media to demonstrate that they, indeed, earn a living just like everyone else.
