Harris Picks Up Endorsements From Republicans Days Before the Election

Vice President Harris received endorsements from three prominent Republicans in New Hampshire on Wednesday. These leaders previously supported Nikki Haley in the Republican primary.

Former U.S. Senator Gordon Humphrey condemned Trump as divisive and unstable. He called for Republicans to vote against Trump. "I voted Republican for fifty years, but I’m voting against Donald Trump," he said. "He’s dangerous to our democracy."

Former Congressman Chuck Douglas expressed similar sentiments. He criticized Trump for prioritizing himself over service. Douglas remarked that Trump views the election as a chance to "jail his political opponents." In contrast, he believes Harris would provide a "steady hand at the ship of state."

Thomas Rath also condemned Trump. He pointed out Trump's "campaign of division, anger, thinly veiled prejudice, and rejection of our core values as a nation."

The Harris-Walz campaign welcomed the endorsements. They noted hundreds of current and former Republicans are backing Harris, including Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger. In New Hampshire, registered Republican volunteers have increased by 47% compared to 2022. Furthermore, 76% more GOP voters say they plan to vote for Democrats.

"Vice President Harris has made clear there is a home in her campaign for all Americans," the campaign stated. They emphasized that Trump continues to push his extreme agenda.

The Trump campaign responded by noting Haley's support for him. They highlighted endorsements from Democrats like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard. "President Trump is building a historic and diverse movement to make America great again," said Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s national press secretary.

New Hampshire remains a critical swing state. Harris currently leads Trump in public opinion polls. Fox News rates the state as "Likely D."
