Fox Announces Which Two Hosts Will Moderate the Next GOP Presidential Debate

FOX News Media's Stuart Varney and Dana Perino have been selected as co-moderators for the upcoming second Republican presidential primary debate, scheduled for September 27. They will share this responsibility with Univision's Ilia Calderón, and the event will be broadcasted on FOX Business Network.

"We are very proud to have Stuart Varney and Dana Perino co-moderating the second debate with Univision to provide Americans with a comprehensive view of the qualifying candidates vying for the Republican nomination for president," stated FOX News Media President and Executive Editor Jay Wallace.

Set at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute in Simi Valley, California, the debate will be hosted by FOX Business. This marks FOX News Media's role in hosting the initial two debates of the pivotal 2024 election cycle. Last week, FOX News Media's "Democracy 24: FOX News Republican Primary Debate" was co-moderated by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. The event garnered remarkable viewership, attracting a staggering 12.8 million total viewers, and it currently stands as the most-watched non-sporting event cable telecast of the year thus far.

Univision Executive Vice President Maria Martinez-Guzman is enthusiastic about informing Hispanic voters in advance of the crucial GOP primary.

"As the No. 1 source of news for the U.S. Hispanic community, Noticias Univision's participation as co-host of the second 2023 Republican primary debate mirrors TelevisaUnivision's news division's journalistic mission to offer our audience impartial and equitable information. Similar to previous election cycles, our aim is to educate Hispanic voters across the nation about their options while effectively representing the concerns of our community throughout this election period," expressed Martinez-Guzman.

With a career spanning 45 years in the television industry, Varney stands as one of FOX Business' original anchors since its establishment in 2007. He currently leads "Varney & Co.," the highest-rated business television program during market hours. Additionally, he helms "American Built," a series spotlighting the ingenuity behind some of the nation's most iconic landmarks.

Varney's experience encompasses interviews with influential figures from various spheres and provision of analysis for the network's political coverage. He contributed to FOX Business' midterm election programming in 2022 and has been a valuable asset to the business team at FOX News Channel since 2004.

Perino serves as a co-anchor for FOX News' "America's Newsroom" and holds a co-hosting position on "The Five," which ranks as the most-watched program in cable news. Recently, she introduced her own distinctive podcast on FOX News Audio titled "Perino on Politics." Notably, she co-hosted the pre-show for the initial Republican presidential debate alongside Bill Hemmer.

Throughout her 14-year tenure at the network, Perino plays a significant role in FOX News' key political events. Her portfolio includes conducting remarkable exclusive interviews, such as those featuring Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, among other notable figures.

Calderón holds the distinction of being the first Afro-Latina to anchor an evening newscast for a major U.S. broadcast network. Her interview roster includes President Biden, first lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and various other influential political figures.
