Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., took aim at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., on Twitter Friday.
She had said, “We need a Democratic Party that fights harder for us too,” during her Thursday speech.
Fetterman clapped back.
“Fight ‘harder’—a stunt that would have harmed millions and plunged us into chaos,” he wrote. “We kept our government open. Deal with it.”
Fetterman and other top Democrats, including Chuck Schumer, voted to push through a key procedural step. It allowed a government funding bill to move forward and avoid a shutdown.
Still, once the cloture vote passed, Fetterman, Schumer, and most Democrats voted against the bill itself.
Despite their votes, the measure passed.
Ocasio-Cortez was against the whole thing—start to finish.
She told senators to vote no on cloture and the final bill.
“It should be very clear to every Senate Democrat that any vote for Cloture will also be considered a vote for the bill,” she tweeted. “People aren’t going to be tricked with procedural games. They know exactly what is going on. Defend Medicaid. Vote NO on Cloture. NO on bill.”
