More than four years after the Capitol riot, questions still swirl around January 6.
Now, FBI Director Kash Patel says one of the biggest questions may finally get a clear answer.
“People have had questions about January 6th and whether or not there were FBI sources – not agents, sources – on the ground during January 6,” Patel told Fox News. “We have… and we are in the process again of working with our partners to divulge that information, and it is coming.”
He said the answer might “surprise and shock people” because of what past FBI leaders claimed.
Last year’s DOJ Inspector General report confirmed 26 confidential human sources were in the crowd that day. Only three were there under FBI direction. One even entered the Capitol. The others entered restricted areas.
The report stressed none of them were told to break laws or incite violence. Still, it confirmed the FBI paid sources to attend.
Patel said that information is just “a piece of the truth.” He also criticized former FBI Director Christopher Wray for dodging tough questions in Congress. “You have to be prepared for that,” Patel said.
Now in charge, Patel promises transparency. He says Americans “deserve” real answers from their government.
He also teased upcoming answers about the January 5 pipe bombs, cocaine found in the Biden White House, and the FBI’s infamous Trump-Russia probe known as “Crossfire Hurricane.”
