Kirk Herbstreit, an ESPN star, didn’t hold back when asked on social media, "Do men belong in women’s sports?" His answer was blunt: "Of course not."
He elaborated in an interview on OutKick’s "Don’t @ Me with Dan Dakich." Herbstreit said he didn't care at all about the possible backlash. "I’m done giving any s---s at all about any of it," he said.
He feels like there are "two different sets of rules" and that being a traditional Christian guy often comes with a different set of expectations. "It’s hard to just turn the other cheek time after time after time," he added.
Herbstreit made it clear he’s not afraid of being canceled. "I don’t give a s---," he said, emphasizing that he's reached a point where he just speaks his mind. He admitted that his temper can get the best of him, though, and he has to be careful not to explode.
Surprisingly, ESPN didn’t give him any trouble for his comments. Herbstreit reflected on how he’s been holding back for years, especially on social media.
He shared how he responded to the original tweet with a quick, dismissive answer: "Ridiculous question, of course not." He didn’t expect the reaction, but he noticed it was "way more positive than negative."
While Herbstreit doesn’t have a daughter, he believes he’d be even more outspoken if he did. He expressed frustration over how much race, religion, and politics dominate conversations today, despite Lee Corso’s advice to avoid those topics.
Herbstreit hinted that once he retires, he might have even more to say.
