Democratic Senator Unveils Creepy New Look, Draws Comparison to Infamous TV Drug Dealer

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., has become the subject of comparisons to the central character of "Breaking Bad" after making the choice to ditch his goatee and wear a mustache.

"Lost a bet with Karl," Fetterman shared on X, previously known as Twitter, this past Saturday. Karl is the nickname for Fetterman's son who is 13.

Gisele Barreto Fetterman, the senator's wife, posted a captured conversation with him: "OMG WHY," she expressed, and subsequently mentioned that she was "into it."

When a user on X inquired about the game that led to the bet with his son, Mrs. Fetterman replied, "[c]hess, always chess."

The political community had varied reactions to Fetterman's updated facial hair.

"Fetterman is Breaking Bad," pointed out political expert Rachel Bitecofer, hinting at Walter White from "Breaking Bad", the character who transitions from a high school chemistry teacher to a narcotics magnate. Walter White's appearance with baldness, glasses, and a mustache mirrors Fetterman's.

Film director Jay Arnold complimented Fetterman's uploaded photo: "Don't be mad... but you look great!"

In his relatively short congressional tenure of about seven months, Fetterman voiced criticism of Congress's inclination towards "drama" over concrete policy-making.

"There’s a fixation on a lot of dumb s--t," he remarked. "It's essentially about poor theatrics. The entire debt ceiling situation shouldn’t have been so dramatized," he shared with the media. "Toying with such pivotal matters goes against our democratic foundation. Not every issue should spiral into a cultural debate."

Fetterman also went into detail regarding his recent episode of depression, during which he continued his responsibilities from the hospital for nearly a month.

"It’s a burden, but a privilege, too, to talk about it. It’s also an opportunity to be very bipartisan," he emphasized. "Red or blue, if you have depression, get help, please. Don’t ever, ever, ever harm yourself. Do not leave behind a blueprint of that."

Earlier in the year, Fetterman underwent treatment for clinical depression at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, lasting about six weeks.

"At my absolute lowest, I began entertaining thoughts of [self-harm]," Fetterman confessed. "It dawned on me that if I acted on those impulses, I'd leave a haunting legacy for my children, suggesting such actions as potential solutions. I couldn't bear to leave that imprint."
