On Monday an Irish Christian teacher was thrown in jail for standing his ground and refusing to obey a court order that violated his faith.
RTE, an Irish broadcasting company, reported that secondary school teacher Enoch Burke was sent to Mountjoy Prison after Judge Michael Quinn determined he was guilty of contempt of court.

Burke was placed on paid administrative leave after he refused to refer to a male student with the pronoun “they," according to a report from the New York Post.
Per the school's request, Burke is banned from teaching until this situation is resolved. Enoch disregarded the injunction and was found at the school sitting in an empty class, according to the police report.
“I am a teacher and I don’t want to go to prison,” Burke said, per the Post. “I want to be in my classroom today. That’s where I was this morning when I was arrested.”
“Transgenderism is against my Christian belief,” Burke continued. “It is contrary to the scriptures, contrary to the ethos of the Church of Ireland and of my school.”
“I love my school, with its motto Res Non Verba, ‘Actions not words,’ but I am here today because I said I would not call a boy a girl,” Burke also told the Post.
The heavy hand of the law is way too heavy here. This goes beyond the norms of justice. This is simply repressive and downright wrong.

West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin is the least popular political figure in a poll released by NBC News with only 11% of registered Democrats having positive feelings about him.
Just over one-third, 34%, have negative feelings about Manchin, giving him a 23% net-negative, the lowest in the country.
