White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre faced tough questions on Thursday. Reporters wanted to know if President Biden felt responsible for Vice President Kamala Harris' loss to former President Trump in the 2024 race.
When asked if Biden regretted dropping out of the race in July, Jean-Pierre emphasized his pride in his accomplishments. "He was very proud," she said. When he decided to "hand over the torch," he felt it was the right choice.
“He believed that she was ready,” Jean-Pierre stated. “She was ready to lead on day one and has been very proud in what he's been able to deliver.”
Jean-Pierre affirmed that Biden stands by his decision to endorse Harris. “You saw the party come behind her support her,” she noted.
Biden thinks it was the best move for the American people. He prioritized the nation's needs over his own ambitions.
“This was not about him,” Jean-Pierre explained. “This is about what was right for the American people.” Biden firmly believes it was the right call. He is "very, incredibly proud" of that choice.
