UFC fighter Josh Hokit is facing heavy criticism from political opponents following a controversial remark about former First Lady Michelle Obama. The comment was delivered on Sunday evening after his victory on the South Lawn of the White House during the historic UFC Freedom 250 event.

During a live post-fight interview with UFC announcer Joe Rogan, Hokit looked directly into the television camera to deliver his final thoughts to the viewing audience. “And lastly … Michelle Obama is a man! Am I right, America?” Hokit said.

The racy quip referenced a long-running online joke and political conspiracy theory regarding the former first lady. The unexpected commentary quickly sparked a massive wave of polarized reactions across multiple social media platforms.

Several prominent figures in sports and media immediately pushed back against the unfiltered fighter. Earlier in the evening, Hokit had celebrated his major victory by gifting a gold chain to President Donald Trump, who was watching from the front row.

Former NFL quarterback and sports broadcaster Robert Griffin III blasted the fighter's behavior in a social media post. “Josh Hokit won the biggest fight of his career at the White House and decides to finish his interview by calling Michelle Obama a Man. What a disgrace,” Griffin wrote. “It takes a really small man to use his biggest moment to attack a woman by calling her a man. Especially with the history behind calling black women men.”

The Democratic National Committee also weighed in on the growing controversy by sharing an official portrait of the former first lady. The DNC claimed that Obama “lives in their heads rent-free.”

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, who frequently supports the president, called on Trump to publicly address the fighter's comment. Portnoy argued that the historic venue demanded a higher standard of decorum from the athletes.

“These are UFC guys, they’re crazy. They’re idiots,” Portnoy said in a video post. “But when you have that on the White House lawn on an event you put down … I don’t care what you think about the Obamas or anything. That has to be an immediate denounce.”

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding Hokit’s post-fight remarks.

Representative Joaquin Castro, a Texas Democrat, took aim at the media companies responsible for broadcasting the live sporting event. He questioned whether network executives should have cut away from the unscripted moment.

“So is this the kind of trash we can expect from @paramountplus (and @CBS) now,” Castro said in a public post challenging the streaming platform.

The historic Sunday event successfully blended professional sports and national politics on a grand scale. The evening highlighted President Trump’s enduring friendship with UFC Chief Executive Officer Dana White, who helped coordinate the match.

Trump celebrated the overall success of the massive event in a late-night post on Truth Social, describing the fight night as “incredible.” The president added that “the White House has never looked more beautiful. The setting was unsurpassed.”
