Trump Puts More Than $400 Million Behind the GOP’s Final Midterm Push

President Trump discussing a more than $400 million midterm campaign effort

A $400 Million Closing Push

President Trump says his political operation has spent, or will spend, more than $400 million supporting the Republican Party and its candidates before voters cast ballots on Nov. 3. He made the announcement Tuesday, with Election Day about two weeks away, and said more than $300 million has already been deployed. The final wave is aimed at the closing stretch. This is not just a late television buy. Trump listed advertising, direct and indirect voter contact, rallies, rally venues, telephone rallies, get-out-the-vote programs, election-integrity efforts, and other campaign operations. In modern politics, even getting people to answer a phone now comes with a budget line.

Where the Money Is Moving

The Washington Post reported that the funding is coming through Trump-aligned groups, including the main MAGA super PAC and Securing American Greatness. Federal Election Commission reports reviewed by the outlet showed more than $244 million spent on text messages, phone calls, direct mail, advertising, and media. That documented figure covers many of the voter-contact tools Trump mentioned. The money is moving through both broad media and one-to-one outreach. The latter is less glamorous than a television ad, but campaigns do not get ballots by admiring their own commercials.

Two Organizations, Two Disclosure Rules

The main super PAC faced a Tuesday federal disclosure deadline covering its finances through Sept. 30. The filing is expected to show how much cash remained after the late spending surge and which donors supplied its newest reportable contributions. The super PAC must disclose donors above the federal reporting threshold, while the allied nonprofit is not required to publicly identify its donors. Together, the organizations provide disclosed political money and a second funding vehicle with private donors. That structure helps explain how the operation can pay for television reservations while also financing direct contact, mail, rallies, and election-integrity programs across battlegrounds.

Cash, Ads, and the GOP War Chest

Trump previously said midterm spending could reach $400 million to $500 million while leaving a major reserve for future political fights. Tuesday’s announcement places the effort at the lower end of that range, with time remaining before Election Day. The Associated Press reported that MAGA Inc. had approximately $416 million in cash on hand at the end of August. By Tuesday, Trump’s super PAC and aligned organizations had spent $191 million on advertising and reserved another $65 million through Election Day, according to AdImpact data cited by the outlet. Those advertising figures do not equal the broader $400 million total, which also includes direct contact, rallies, and turnout work.

The Final Push for Votes

Early voting is already underway in major battlegrounds, putting the focus on turning enthusiasm into completed ballots. Trump made a direct appeal to North Carolina, telling supporters to return mail ballots immediately or vote in person and back Republicans up and down the ticket. Democrats are spending heavily as well. Michael Bloomberg is committing roughly $80 million in the final stretch, including about $50 million focused on House races. That effort is substantial, but it is about one-fifth the size of the total Trump says his political operation is putting into the fight.
