Texas Republicans Blast Harris for Planned Event: 'One of the dumbest political decisions'

More than a dozen Texas Republicans criticized Vice President Kamala Harris’ upcoming visit to the state. They told Fox News Digital it’s “one of the dumbest political decisions” they've ever seen.

“'Border Czar' Kamala Harris can come all the way to Houston where Jocelyn Nungaray was killed by Tren de Aragua gang members that she let into the country, yet she can't be bothered to visit Jocelyn's family or even say her name,” Texas Governor Greg Abbott said. He continued, “Kamala Harris and her open border policies have allowed over 11 million illegal immigrants and dangerous criminals like TdA into our country, putting every American's life at risk.”

Harris’ visit comes just ten days before Election Day. She plans to speak about abortion policies after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. Abortion remains a key issue for Harris, who supports eliminating the filibuster to restore abortion access nationwide.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick weighed in, calling the trip “one of the dumbest political decisions I’ve ever seen.” He stated, “She and Colin Allred are not going to win in Texas. I’m glad she is spending the day in Texas instead of campaigning in a swing state with only a few days left in the election.”

Harris will be joined by Colin Allred, the Democratic Senate candidate challenging Republican Sen. Ted Cruz. Cruz didn’t hold back, accusing Allred of sharing “radical policies” with Harris. “Colin Allred is Kamala Harris. They have spent the last four years working hand-in-hand against Texans,” Cruz said.

As illegal immigration surged in 2021, President Biden tasked Harris with addressing the “root causes” of immigration. The administration cited climate change, poverty, and violence as factors driving migrants to the U.S. The media labeled her the “border czar,” a title the White House rejected but has stuck among critics.

“Millions of migrants have illegally entered our country on Border Czar Kamala Harris’ watch,” Texas Sen. John Cornyn stated. “If she can’t control the border, how can she run the country?” He claimed, “We’ve never had a more secure border than under President Trump.”

Rep. Ronny Jackson added, “Harris’ last-ditch effort to appear serious on border security is more than laughable, it’s dangerous.” He accused her of supporting policies that put U.S. citizens at risk. “Texans, including our incredible Latino community, do not trust her,” he said.

Nineteen Texas leaders expressed their disdain for Harris’ visit. Rep. Dan Crenshaw stated, “Harris should visit Houston, but not to campaign. She should come to apologize for purposefully allowing Texas border counties to be overrun.”

The tragedy of twelve-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray loomed large in their comments. She was allegedly murdered by two illegal immigrants in June. This incident has intensified calls for accountability and security at the border.
