Texas Governor Fires Back at Democrat Who Mocked Him With Insulting Nickname

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott fired back after a Democrat appeared to mock him for being in a wheelchair. He said remarks like that will only push voters away from the party.

"It's another day and another disaster by the Democrats," Abbott said on "Hannity." He added, "They have nothing to sell but hate, and Americans are not buying it."

Rep. Jasmine Crockett made the comment during a Human Rights Campaign dinner in L.A. She referred to Abbott as "Governor Hot Wheels."

Crockett later clarified her remarks on X. She claimed she "wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition."

"I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors," she wrote. "Literally, the next line I said was that he was a 'Hot A** Mess.'"

Rep. Randy Weber said he plans to introduce a censure resolution. He called her comments "venomous rhetoric."

Abbott became paralyzed at age 26. A tree fell on him while he was jogging.

He defended his record as governor. He highlighted Texas' growth in space, AI, and business.

"Texas ranks number one for the most new economic development projects for 13 years in a row," he said. "CEOs…have ranked Texas the best state for doing business for 20 years in a row."

Crockett has also criticized Trump and Elon Musk. She recently said Musk should be "taken down."

She was elected to Congress in 2022.
