Sen. John Fetterman is shutting down impeachment talk from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez after President Trump’s Iran strike. The Pennsylvania Democrat made it clear on America’s Newsroom that he isn’t on board.
“Of course, no [he should not be impeached],” Fetterman said bluntly. “She knows it. I know it. We all know it… that’s not going anywhere.” He added that Trump’s past impeachments didn’t remove him, and this push won’t either.
The backlash erupted after Trump launched Operation Midnight Hammer on Saturday. The mission hit three Iranian nuclear sites with B-2 bombers, targeting Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. It was a surprise strike — and a controversial one.
Ocasio-Cortez quickly took to X to voice her outrage. “The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers,” she wrote. “It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.”
Fetterman isn’t having it. While he’s no fan of Trump, he’s been vocal about supporting Israel and opposing Iran’s regime. “I don’t think [bringing it up is] helpful,” he said, pointing out how loosely the word “impeachment” gets tossed around.
The strike drew fire from the left and even some in the GOP. Critics argue Trump overstepped by not seeking congressional approval. But his allies say it was a swift, calculated move to stop a nuclear threat before it materialized.
Trump, speaking after the mission, praised the operation. He called it a “spectacular military success” and credited U.S. forces with preventing a catastrophe. The Pentagon said the attacks buried key nuclear infrastructure under tons of rubble.
As for impeachment? Fetterman says don’t count on it. The divide inside the Democratic Party is growing — and this latest rift shows how far apart the Squad and moderates really are.
