Students at a Washington high school were exposed to explicit images during a classroom slideshow. The school's principal confirmed the inappropriate incident in a recent letter to parents.
Students at Glacier Peak High School in Snohomish were shown the material during a teacher's presentation. Principal Alicia Mitchell addressed the situation in a message obtained by Fox News.
"Families, We want to make you aware of an incident in a classroom where inappropriate images were inadvertently shared with the students," Mitchell wrote. "It is our understanding that these images have since been viewed by many others beyond the classroom and want to give you an opportunity to process with your student if you choose to do so."
The Snohomish school district is currently investigating the classroom incident. However, Mitchell's letter to parents offered no specific details about the teacher involved.
"Specifically, the content included images of nude breasts and were briefly visible during a teacher’s PowerPoint presentation," the principal stated. "This does not reflect our expectations for classroom materials, and we take this matter very seriously."
Mitchell added that administrators are actively reviewing the situation to address it moving forward. Seattle radio host Jason Rantz reportedly viewed the slide containing the explicit images.
Rantz noted the slide contained "four photos of the breasts in small boxes, as if they’re previews of photos from a folder." The community is now demanding accountability from the district.
"As this is a personnel matter currently under investigation, we’re unable to provide additional details or comment further," Mitchell's letter continued. "We take this matter seriously and are following established processes to review the situation and determine next steps."
The school has not yet released an official public statement regarding the teacher. Many parents and community members quickly expressed their concern over the lack of transparency and action taken so far.
"Whoever it was should be arrested for showing porn to children," social media user Lou Pacheco wrote online. "So I’m sure that teacher has been fired or at least suspended, right?" user Julie Skinner asked.
