President Donald Trump had a message for McDonald's — and it was classic Trump. While speaking at the McDonald’s Impact Summit in Washington, D.C., he joked that the legendary Filet-O-Fish could use “a little bit more tartar sauce.” He told the crowd, “I like the fish. I like it. You could do a little bit more tartar sauce, so please,” adding that he hates having to ask for extra.
Trump also reminded the audience that he’s the first former McDonald's fry cook to ever become president — even if the “shift” lasted about half an hour. He said, “I actually was there for about 30 minutes, and that was 30 minutes longer than Kamala was there,” taking a shot at Harris’ long-debunked claims that she once worked there. Trump even thanked the employee who exposed that Harris never wore the Golden Arches uniform.
He told the room that no one loves McDonald’s more than he does. “I’m also one of your all-time most loyal customers,” Trump said. “Other politicians fly around on campaign planes stocked with expensive catering… Trump Force One… we served only McDonald’s almost every time.” He recalled convincing Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to eat a Big Mac — and teased that RFK Jr. “didn’t want that publicized.”
Trump then shifted to affordability, one of his signature issues. He admitted that some prices were still too high — especially coffee — and promised action. “We have a couple of items like coffee, which is a little high. We're going to get that down,” he said.
He reminded the audience that he was pressed about egg prices the moment he returned to the Oval Office. But he said his policies have already reversed the damage. “In the past six months, the price of breakfast items has fallen 14%,” Trump said. “Bread prices are down, dairy prices are down, and the price of eggs has declined 86% since March.”
Trump credited McDonald’s for helping lower costs for families. “I want to give a very special thanks to McDonald’s for slashing prices for the most popular items,” he said, adding that together they were driving affordability back into American life. He said the stock market’s repeated record highs proved the comeback was already underway.
He told the crowd the country is finally seeing the rebound. “These new heights of prosperity are going to be incredible,” he said. “We're looking at affordability. We're going to bring it down for everybody.”
Trump wrapped up by praising McDonald’s as a partner in rebuilding American strength. “So, together we're going to make America richer, stronger, prouder, and happier than ever before,” he said. He added that the company is respected worldwide — and that it was “an honor” to be with them.
