Patrick Mahomes made it clear Wednesday that he won’t be endorsing anyone in the upcoming election. His focus? Leading the Kansas City Chiefs to a historic third Super Bowl win.
Mahomes is navigating a challenging political year, with differing views swirling around him.
His wife, Brittany, got a public nod from Trump after Taylor Swift endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump mentioned he preferred Brittany over Swift during an interview.
"I like Brittany. I think Brittany’s great," Trump said on "Fox & Friends."
When asked about this, Mahomes praised Brittany’s openness. He emphasized how both he and his wife encourage others to express their views freely.
"Brittany does a lot in the community," Mahomes said. He added that he stays focused on his family and leading by example, not letting politics get in the way.
Brittany has faced a storm of criticism recently, sparked by her liking Trump’s posts on Instagram. Swift’s fanbase helped spread the news, leading to intense online debates.
She leans on her husband for getting through situations like this.
"Having him to help me get through it has helped a lot because he is very good at managing those things and blocking people out and doing all that type of stuff," she said. "Having him beside me and kind of guiding me, coaching me through it has helped a ton. I think that’s kind of gotten to where we are at now.
"I think the main thing he always told me is like, ‘Stop caring about what people think, especially the people that don’t even know you,’" she said. "And so I think social media used to get me a lot, and now it’s just like, honestly, I don’t give a f--- about what people have to say about me anymore."
Despite the backlash, Brittany and Swift have continued to be seen together, most recently at the U.S. Open. Their public appearances have only fueled more speculation about their political leanings.
Kelce, Swift's boyfriend, hinted at shared values between them in an interview but stopped short of endorsing any candidate. Mahomes, however, remains firm in keeping his platform politically neutral.
