The Philadelphia Eagles are taking swift action after a "counterfeit" political ad supporting Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 election surfaced on social media.
The team quickly released a statement denying any involvement with the animated poster, which showed Harris in an Eagles helmet. They emphasized that they were working to have the ads removed.
"We are aware counterfeit political ads are being circulated and are working with our advertising partner to have them removed," read the statement shared on social media.
Images of the fake poster, allegedly displayed at a Philadelphia bus stop, declared Harris as the "official candidate of the Philadelphia Eagles."
The poster also misleadingly linked to the Eagles' website for voting information. However, by Monday afternoon, the site only had outdated details from before the Pennsylvania and New Jersey primaries.
CBS News reported that the poster is the latest work by street artist Winston Tseng.
In a 2023 interview with Street Art News, Tseng said he likes to "use brands and advertising to communicate societal issues, hopefully bringing some unexpected attention to them in our daily lives."
