NFL Commentator Rips Giants Star for Introducing President Trump

John Harbaugh has not coached his first game with the New York Giants yet. His new organization is already the center of discussion across the NFL.

Few stories have generated as much conversation as Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart introducing President Donald Trump at a recent rally. Dart made a very public statement of support for the president. This drew a massive reaction from his teammate Abdul Carter.

Carter posted online that he thought the video was artificial intelligence. He claimed he could not believe Dart would do such a thing. The two players have since spoken and mended their disagreements, but the public debate has continued.

Critics have quickly pointed out a clear double standard in sports media. Many athletes and coaches have publicly supported Democratic candidates with zero condemnation. People rarely accuse players like LeBron James or Steph Curry of dividing the locker room for their political views.

Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Thomas Booker IV recently led a political group for Kamala Harris. That move received very little critical attention from the national press. Now, former NFL player and current commentator Emmanuel Acho is ignoring this exact contradiction.

Acho posted a new video on social media to share his thoughts. He told his followers there needs to be an uncomfortable conversation about Dart and Carter.

"It’s time to have an uncomfortable conversation about what the hell is going on in New York," Acho started in the video. "Jaxson Dart, the quarterback, supporting President Donald Trump?!?"

"He’s allowed to do that, he’s a citizen," Acho said. "If Jaxson Dart is allowed to support Donald Trump, then his teammate is allowed to have his grievances with him doing that."

"Here is my issue," Acho continued. "Jaxson Dart, you know how several of your brothers, your teammates, your friends, your ride or dies, how they might feel about this individual. I don’t think there is a lot of wisdom or disarmament in very publicly supporting an individual who many of your teammates felt offended by."

"So Jaxson Dart, yes, you can do whatever the hell you want," Acho added. "But I don’t think it’s a wise decision without consulting some of your teammates."

Acho concluded his video by insulting the young quarterback's political decision. He suggested Dart was foolish to make the statement given the predictable reaction from his peers.

"Was it pretty stupid, given the reaction it will cause to his other brothers that are humans and have human emotions?" Acho asked. "Absolutely, I don't think it was wise."

Acho did briefly criticize Carter for speaking out publicly against his teammate. However, the core issue remains that athletes supporting Democrats never face these same locker room questions. Pundits like Acho do not care if LeBron James alienates conservative fans or teammates.

Supporting liberal politicians is simply not seen as divisive by those on the political left. Both Carter and Dart are certainly allowed to vote for anyone they choose. Yet right-leaning commentators are constantly lambasted by the media for pointing out this exact hypocrisy.

Now the media has decided that Dart is the divisive figure in New York. Acho failed to point out that Carter publicly bashing Donald Trump could be equally alienating to conservative players. The political left rarely likes playing by their own established rules.
