President Donald Trump hit social media Thursday morning, boasting about his packed schedule since returning to the White House on Jan. 20.
"THREE GREAT WEEKS, PERHAPS THE BEST EVER," Trump posted proudly.
Since his inauguration, Trump has signed 64 executive orders, according to Fox News. That number blows past the pace of any president in their first few weeks.
Trump loves promoting his achievements. But new polls show Americans are split on how he’s doing so far.
A national AARP poll has Trump at 48% approval, with 47% disapproval.
Polls show mixed reactions early in his second term. Pew Research indicates his ratings are slightly underwater. Meanwhile, CBS News/YouGov polls suggest he’s in positive territory.
This marks a big shift from his first term. Back then, Trump started out with negative ratings and stayed underwater for four years.
"His approval rating is higher than it was at any point during his first term," Republican pollster Neil Newhouse told Fox News.
Newhouse believes Americans appreciate Trump's fast pace and immediate actions. "They’re giving him positive marks not just for what he promises but what he’s already done," he said.
Polls agree on one thing: Trump’s approval splits sharply along party lines.
In the AARP poll, Trump has an 83-point net approval among Republicans but a 76-point net disapproval with Democrats. Independents rate him 19 points underwater.
Trump’s support is strongest among men, white voters, and those without college degrees. But women, Hispanic and Black voters, and college-educated Americans view him less favorably.
Even with these improved ratings, Trump’s numbers are still below where Joe Biden’s were early in his presidency.
Biden started his term with approval in the low to mid-50s and disapproval in the 40s. But things changed in 2021.
Biden’s approval nosedived after the messy U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, rising inflation, and the migrant surge at the southern border.
Since then, Biden’s numbers remained underwater for the rest of his presidency.
