Republican Winsome Sears made history on Tuesday when she won Virginia's lieutenant governor's race against Democrat Hala Ayala. This makes her the first black woman to hold statewide office in Virginia!
How amazing is that! I doubt mainstream media and Democrats will acknowledge her massive victory and accomplishments since she is a Republican.
Although she was the underdog and outspent 2:1, Sears was declared the winner by the Cook Report's Dave Wasserman just hours after the polls closed.

Sears legally immigrated to the United States from Kingston, Jamaica, when she was just six-years-old. Before being elected lieutenant governor, Sears served in the U.S. Marine Corps and the Virginia House of Delegates.
Virginia’s lieutenant governor is first in the line of succession to the governor. Additionally, the lieutenant governor also serves as president of the Virginia State Senate and may cast tie-breaking votes when necessary.

In addition to Sears taking the big W, Republican candidate Glenn Youngkin also defeated former Governor Terry McAuliffe in the Virginia gubernatorial election on Tuesday.
