Major Discount Retailer is Going Out of Business, Closing 908 Stores

Big Lots is liquidating all its stores after a deal with its buyer fell apart. The company is holding “going out of business” sales at all locations.

Earlier this year, Big Lots filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. They closed hundreds of locations and handed over operations to Nexus Capital Management. But just last week, the deal with Nexus collapsed, CBS News reports.

The company is still negotiating with Nexus and exploring other options. However, it has announced that all 908 stores across the U.S. will close permanently.

Big Lots is offering 25% off everything in its stores. According to the Big Lots website, all brick-and-mortar locations will shut down for good.

In 2024 alone, Big Lots closed 580 locations. That makes it one of the U.S. retailers with the most store closures this year.
