"Landman" Mocks "The View" As "Pissed-Off Millionaires"

The latest episode of the Paramount+ drama "Landman" included a sharp critique of ABC's daytime show, "The View."

In the episode, "The Pirate Dinner," a conversation between main character Tommy Norris (played by Billy Bob Thornton) and his father T.L. (played by Sam Elliott) focused on the program. When Tommy suggested his father watch "The View" to pass the time, T.L. asked what the show was.

Tommy’s description was a pointed jab at the hosts:

"A bunch of pissed-off millionaires b----ing about how much they hate millionaires and Trump and men and you and me and everybody else they got a bee up their a-- about. It’s pretty funny."

When T.L. responded that it didn't sound funny, Tommy clarified the humor was more like a "fart in church" funny, depending on your "proximity to the fart."

The Taylor Sheridan-created drama, "Landman," focuses on the billionaire Norris family and power dynamics within the oil rig industry in West Texas.

This is not the first time the series, which explores themes related to rural and industrial America, has aired content critical of mainstream liberal viewpoints. In 2024, a clip from the show went viral after Thornton's character delivered a monologue attacking the practical and environmental costs associated with renewable energy measures like wind and solar.
