Kayne West to Kick Off Presidential Campaign in South Carolina

Music star and fashion designer Kanye West looks to make things official as he plans to start his presidential bid in South Carolina Sunday afternoon.

Kanye West officially announced his intentions to run for president on July 4th. This was something he had been discussing since 2015. On July 14th an aide said he was no longer running for president, but the very next day he qualified for the ballot in Oklahoma.

He follows this up with a “Statement of Candidacy” the next day that declared he had raised at least $5,000 in campaign-related expenses. This legally got him on the ballot in Oklahoma.

Per ABC News:

The event will be held at the Exquis Event Center in North Charleston, according to a statement. It is "for registered guests only."

According to his federal filing, he will be appearing as an independent candidate from the newly-formed "Birthday Party."
