Kamala Harris Makes Wild Boast as 2028 Speculation Continues

Former Vice President Kamala Harris fueled speculation about a potential 2028 presidential run during an interview with journalist Kara Swisher, where she also touted her extensive political background — and claimed that some people have called her “the most qualified candidate ever to run for president.”

When Swisher asked whether she planned to run in 2028, Harris smiled and shrugged before replying, “Maybe. Maybe not,” drawing loud cheers from the audience. She has already ruled out running for California governor in 2026.

Pressed on what policies she might focus on if she did launch another presidential bid, Harris declined to get specific. “It’s much too early to have that conversation, Kara,” she said, before taking a jab at the current Department of Justice. “I literally yesterday would not have known that this Department of Justice would have indicted the New York Attorney General, right?”

Harris went on to reflect on her time in the Biden administration, suggesting that she would have changed the order in which key legislative priorities were handled. “I actually, in reflection, one of the things I would have done differently — and I talk about a few things but one of them on this topic — I really do think we should have done the families piece of ‘Build Back Better’ before we did the infrastructure and the CHIPS Act,” she said.

Earlier in the discussion, Harris spoke about her failed 2024 campaign against President Donald Trump, a subject she covers in her new memoir, 107 Days. She said the short campaign window left her unable to properly introduce herself to voters.

“I couldn’t do enough,” Harris admitted. “I wanted people to know not just who I am personally, but what I’ve done and what I bring to the table.”

Listing her previous roles, Harris reminded the audience she had served as a U.S. Senator from California, the state’s attorney general, and San Francisco’s district attorney. Swisher quipped, “That’s a decent résumé, but go ahead.”

Harris smiled and added, “Well, some people have actually said I was the most qualified candidate ever to run for president,” a remark that drew applause from the crowd. “I’m just speaking fact,” she said confidently.
