Jamie Foxx recently shared more about the mysterious illness that hospitalized him last year.
The 56-year-old actor and comedian talked to restaurant patrons in Phoenix, Arizona. He said his health issues began after he took Advil for a headache.
“Look, April 11 last year, bad headache, asked my boy for an Advil. I was gone for 20 days,” he said in a video on X (formerly Twitter).
“I don’t remember anything,” the Oscar winner recalled. “I’m in Atlanta, they told me… my sister and my daughter took me to the first doctor. They gave me a cortisone shot.”
“The next doctor said, ‘There’s something going on up there,’” Foxx added, pointing to his head. “I won’t say it on camera. But it was…”
Foxx was hospitalized on April 11, 2023, after a “medical complication” while filming the Netflix action comedy “Back in Action” in Atlanta.
His daughter Corinne Foxx, 30, shared a statement on Instagram the next day.
“We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday,” Corinne said. “Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”
Later that month, it was revealed that Foxx was “awake and alert,” while doctors tried to figure out what happened.
Several conspiracy theories circulated, including that the COVID-19 vaccine caused Foxx’s hospitalization.
The “Ray” star shot that down, saying it was “completely inaccurate.”
Foxx issued his first statement after his hospitalization on May 3, 2023, thanking his fans for their love and support.
