"Home Improvement" actor Zachery Ty Bryan entered a guilty plea to a felony assault charge related to domestic violence in an Oregon court on Wednesday.
Through a settled agreement, the second count of fourth-degree assault was dropped. As a result, Bryan will serve a seven-day jail term instead of the potential 19 to 20 months in the Oregon Department of Corrections, stated Lane County chief deputy district attorney Chris Parosa to Fox News Digital.
Bryan, aged 42, was taken into custody in July following a report of a physical altercation involving him and an unidentified woman. Fox News Digital verified this at that time. Initially, he faced two charges of fourth-degree assault.

"The terms of the negotiated resolution included dismissal of the second count and a stipulation to a ‘7D’ gridblock on the Oregon felony sentencing guidelines, which calls for a presumptive 19 to 20 months in the Oregon Department of Corrections," Parosa said.
Parosa further verified that the seven-day jail term will "come with credit for time served," suggesting that this duration might already be accounted for.
Bryan's sentence will include a "downward dispositional departure," leading to 36 months of closely monitored probation. This will be coupled with standard domestic violence stipulations such as "no contact with the victim without the probation officer’s approval, treatment for alcohol/substance abuse issues at the direction of the probation officer, and no alcohol or drugs."
In Parosa's words, "In the event that Mr. Bryan does not live up to the obligations of the probation, he will be brought back before the court and subject to the 19 to 20 months of prison that the court suspended."
In 2020, Bryan was taken into custody and later admitted guilt in connection with an incident involving his girlfriend, Johnnie Faye Cartwright. The incident reportedly involved an attempt by Bryan to strangle her at their residence in Eugene, Oregon.
He faced charges described as "menacing – constituting domestic violence and assault in the fourth degree – constituting domestic violence."
