Great Wolf Lodge Suspect Allegedly Said, “It Wasn’t Supposed to End Like This”

The words described in court records

According to a police affidavit, Metallica Rose Harrison called 911 on Monday afternoon and asked for help taking her own life. She allegedly told the dispatcher that her husband and 3-year-old son were already gone. The New York Post, citing the affidavit, reported that Harrison continued discussing death as officers and emergency medical workers responded. During the ambulance ride, she allegedly spoke about how hard she had worked to be a good person, mother, and wife. She then allegedly said, “It wasn’t supposed to end like this.” The affidavit also says she asked medical personnel about the depth of a vein in her wrist for another attempt and expressed frustration that her blood was clotting despite medication intended to thin it. At the hospital, she allegedly told detectives she was “suicidal, not stupid” and declined to discuss what had happened.

What police say they found at the resort

Pocono Township police say officers were sent to room 2030 at the Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun at about 3:13 p.m. on October 12. The call involved a distressed woman who said she needed help ending her life. Officers found injuries on Harrison and took her to a hospital. While checking the room, they found an adult man and a 3-year-old boy dead. Police then began treating the deaths as homicides. The adult victim was identified as Harrison’s husband, Charles Harrison. Court records identify the child only by initials, and authorities have not publicly released his name. Police have described the case as an isolated domestic tragedy and said there is no threat to the wider community.

The case is now moving through court

Harrison faces two counts of criminal homicide under Pennsylvania law. Police say she was arraigned on October 13 by Magisterial District Judge Daniel Kresge, denied bail, and placed in the Monroe County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing is expected at a later date. The investigation involves Pocono Township officers, the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, the county coroner, Pennsylvania State Police forensic personnel, St. Luke’s EMS, and Great Wolf Lodge security. The department says the investigation remains active. The charges are allegations, and Harrison is presumed innocent unless and until she is proven guilty in court.

The timeline leaves the central question unanswered

No motive has been announced. Reporting from the probable-cause affidavit, WGAL said the family checked into the resort on September 21 and later extended the reservation through October 13. Surveillance reportedly showed all three family members entering the room Sunday evening. Harrison and her husband were later seen going to the arcade and returning to the room. Investigators said the surveillance review showed no additional activity at the room’s door after the couple returned. Those details establish part of the timeline, but they do not explain why the deaths occurred. That question remains at the center of the investigation.
