Former Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's Embattled Husband Faces Criminal Charge

Paul Pelosi is facing a potential criminal charge in California wine country. Deputies accuse him of hitting a parked car and driving away. The incident happened on Yount Street in Yountville.

A witness saw Pelosi's brown convertible strike the empty vehicle. The impact pushed the parked car's tire over the curb. The driver paused briefly before fleeing the scene.

Authorities found the damaged vehicle on Yountville Cross Road. California Highway Patrol officers had already pulled behind the convertible. Pelosi's car had severe damage to the front passenger side.

Deputies identified the eighty-six-year-old driver using his license. Pelosi admitted he knew he hit something during his drive. He told investigators he did not know what he struck.

A roadside breath test returned a blood alcohol level of zero. Deputies did not take Pelosi into custody at the scene. This is standard procedure for misdemeanor offenses in California.

The Napa County Sheriff's Office wants prosecutors to charge Pelosi. They are pushing for a misdemeanor hit and run charge. They also referred him for a DMV driver re-evaluation.

Pelosi's spokesperson released a statement apologizing to the vehicle owner. He promised to take full responsibility for all the damages. Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi will not comment on the matter.

This is not Pelosi's first driving incident in the area. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor DUI crash in 2022. He served one day in a courthouse work program.
